In this modern day we are exposed to a lot more toxins in the environment than we might think. The most obvious place for us to get toxins from on a daily basis is our food.
Unfortunately because a vast majority of food preparation and farming techniques use chemical and pesticides, we cannot ovid these toxins, unless we go 100% organic.
The livers job is to remove as much toxins from the body as possible, and it is designed to do this extremey effectively, however when there is an overload of toxins, the liver cannot keep up, and the result is that toxins tend to build up and get stored in the bodies cell, where they can cause use to feel lousy or worse yet lead to auto immune deseases such as cancer.
Toxic Colon
The colon is also one of the major places where toxins from foods are removed from the body, and is also where a huge amount of toxins can build up. This is where doing a colon cleanse is a good, but keep in mind it is not a wise life styel choice to just colon cleanse and not concentrate on reducing the intake of toxins in the first place.
How to Cleanse the Colon
There are a number of ways to cleanse the colon, and one that I came across recently was a coffee enema. There is a good Youtube video on this here: Coffee Enema Cleanse.
This is probably not going to be for
everyone, but there is a lot of people claiming that this style of colon cleanse works best, as the coffee causes the blood vessels in the colon to dilate and sends signals to the liver and gall bladder to dump toxins into the blood so they can be removed.
This style of cleanse is like a giant clean out of the toxins from the liver and although more invasive does get great reviews.
Colon Cleanse Supplements
You can also use supplements to cleanse the colon, and these work mainly by causing water to be pulled across the colon blood barrier and drag the toxins with them, like a flushing motion. If once is to use supplements, I recommend using natural ones, as some can actually introduce more unwanted toxins, which defeats the purpose.
Why Colon Cleanse?
The obvious question, is why bother cleanse the colon in the first place. As I mentioned above a build up of toxins is not good for the body and can make you feel lathargic and even lead to auto-immune diseases. People who eay a lot of meat tend to build up more toxins in the colon too, more so than plant based diet, and some people beleive can lead to colon cancer. Meat is much more difficult to digest and it can cause build up of toxins in the larger intestine and lower colon. I think meat has many good nutrients though, but as alwys best to stick to meat that is organic and grass fed rather than grain fed.
Good Foods for the Colon
Prevention is always better than cure, and therefore one should consider carefully what foods they are eating on a regular basis. I always advocate to eat organically grown foods, as they are pesticide and insecticide fee.
Some peopel falsely think that just by washing food before eating it that it will get rid of the toxins, but this could not be further from the truth in most cases. Fruits and vegetables that do not have hard outer skin are the worse, such as brocolli, carrots, apples, grapes, lettuce etc…where as bananas and coconuts are safer.
Even if you can’t eat organically every meal, try to add some organic food into your diet and the more green leafy vegetables the better, as they are nutrient dense.
