Nail fungus or onychomycosis is very nasty and can be very stubborn.
Most of the medications on the market are highly toxic and can cause some unpleasant side effects too. There are however some things that you can do in order to help treat nail fungus.
Sugar
Sugar is bad for so many reasons, and not surprisingly it can makes nail fungus worse too! Nail fungus grows most rapidly on simple sugars, like glucose, and if someone has a poor diet the that is highly processed and full of sugar, this can make nail fungus a lot worse.
Barefoot
If you always wear socks and shoes, then your feet often don’t get a chance to breath properly, and this can cause dampness also. This is the perfect condition for fungus to grow in, and therefore not a great idea. You should try where possible take your socks and shoes off at some point in the day and let your nails get exposure to UV light from the sun.
Communal Areas
The most common place to catch nail fungus is in communal areas where your feet are exposed. Places like swimming pools, showers, spas and saunas are very common. Where possible you should try to avoid these areas, and always wash your feet well aftewards.
Salt Water
Salt water, in particular sea water can have a good effect at redcuing nail fungus. The salt can dry out the nail and also sea water has an anti-bacterial effect, which aids in healing also.
Natural Treatment
There are some good natural remedies that you can try, and I reviewed one by the name of Zetaclear below. These treatment are non toxic, which is always a bonus, and worth a try. However I do think that diet is key, and reducing sugar as much as possible will help a lot, for more than just nail fungus!
